“Hold On” was conceived as a concerto for Alto Saxophone and Chamber Wind Ensemble. The work is broken into five movements that when mentally combined as follows, Movements (Mvt) 1-2, Mvt 3-4, Mvt 5, fits the traditional fast-slow-fast concerto form with Mvt 1 being an introduction to Mvt 2. Each movement of the work is loosely based off a poem of the same name written by the composer. The Poem is as follows:
We live in the weird spaces in-between.
Flittering, fluttering, flickering
Yearning to Share More of it.
Wishing for each other’s presence,
Time moves on.
