Written for Joe Jaxson at the end of 2020, Daydream works to allow a meandering melody idea total passage through the wonderfully expressive range of the solo horn. The piece should almost sound as if the performer is daydreaming these notes when they should be practicing, or doing other work. Throughout the piece, one will hear characteristic sounds of the horn, such as: stopped horn, its wide range, horn glissandi (sometimes called horn “rips”), its lyrical voice, and more.
