Rainstorm (2020) was the product of a collaboration with percussionists Ryan Carlisle, and Miles Cingolani. The piece features two dominant sections, each with their own strong inspiration. The first section is inspired by ambient style music to create the feeling of sitting around a campfire out in nature. However, this serene and relaxed setting does not last long because a rainstorm has begun. Using the driving pulse of minimalist rhythmic structure both the marimba and snare begin to create the feeling of rain, lighting, and thunder, all surrounding the listener. In the end though, the rainstorm subsides and a return to gathering around the campfire begins anew.
